The reason I chose this article because it is about the financial cost of stem cells treatment. This article is about a little girl that has a terminal disease Type 2 spinal muscular atrophy, a genetic disorder that affects parts of the nervous system that control voluntary muscle movement. The parents have tried different treatments, but they turned to stem cell treatment. Since the FDA hasn't approved stem cell treatment in the United States yet the family has to travel to china for the treatment. The little girl will get stem cell treatment 6 times a day for 34 days. Just for the treatment it costs $26,500, this is not including travel, food, and room which cost an addition $25,000.
